Cynicus Asterick Mode
A repaint of the polarizing R12-Cynicus, MMC's take on the DJD character Vos from the IDW comics, manages to set itself apart from the original. While they both come with the same accessories and are cut from the same mold, the small variances make a world of difference. Initially, as I already owned R-12, I felt that the new color scheme wasn't enough of a distinction to make it worth purchasing, until I unboxed him. I was immediately drawn to the way the red eyes now seemed to glow when encased in darker plastic. The gold trim really pops against the darker gray and black, and the yellow highlights brought out much more detail that was lost in the first run. Then after just a few seconds next to a light source, I tested the glow in dark feature and was very impressed with how brightly the paint glowed. Most glow in the dark paint seems to be obvious or flat in the daylight, but the yellow highlights on R12-AM blend in perfectly with the glow paint. The feet did suffer a little from over-spray, particularly on the inside, but yellow on anything is always tough to get right. If you missed out on the first run, I highly recommend adding this figure to your collection, even if you don't know who Vos is or the DJD he's a great stand alone figure and looks fantastic when held by Nero Rex in Gun mode.
